Camila Rocha

I discovered Camila Rocha through Twitter – I saw this profile picture of one of her paintings ‘Study of a skull on canvas’ and looked her up. She is actually a tattoo artist originally, Brazilian born but travels with her talent to countries including the UK and now resides in LA studying fine art painting at the Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Arts. I find her path an inspiring one, I recommend reading more about her on her site and facebook page. She says;
‘I’ve discovered in tattoos a reason to live for…. Now I found a new passion, Fine Art Paintings’
I’m looking forward to seeing more of her paintings.

I’m sure most of you will be familiar with Rico the Zombie (Rick Genest), most probably when he shot into the limelight as ‘Lady Gaga’s favourite corpse’ for her ‘Born This Way‘ music video. Or possibly at the Mark Quinn’s latest muse for a full body sculpture. Last week he gave an interesting interview with London’s Evening Standard where his brain tumor diagnosis at 15 is given as a trigger for his transformation into a full body tattooed zombie. He describes his journey from living on the streets to his discovery by Nicola Formichetti (the creative director who works with Lady Gaga) and ultimately his modeling career.
