Aurelien Police: The Clockwork Music
May 11, 2012 § Leave a Comment
This clockwork, steampunk style heart was created for The Clockwork Music by French illustrator and designer Aurelien Police. He has a wide range of clients form Music CD design, book covers and children’s book illustration; ‘He uses computer as melting pot to mix up all sorts of raw materials, erasing the frontiers between all possible media so as to provide his pictures with a graphic finishing of his own. Flirting with various themes -often associated with fantasy, detective or supernatural- allows him to translate in pictures his own personal vision of those genres.’ [taken from his site]

I’m a sucker for a simple but effective line animation, and this video gets my vote. If you’re looking for her skeleton, you’ll have to stick with it to 2 minutes…

I just couldn’t resist putting my snap of Florence from the gig on Saturday night at Alexandra Palace with the tenuous link of the stage backdrop being Lungs (from the debut album of the same name).
Anatomical Christmas Gift Guide 3: Music

How better to say it than with Anatomy, The Loves’ final LP ‘…Love You’ even has a member of the velvet Underground as the voice of Jesus on it – how seasonal!
If that hasn’t got ya phalanges tappin’, here’s another;
Peter Gabriels latest album cover artworks embrace electron microscopy of blood cells.
Top to Bottom;
Scratch my Back shows two red blood cells embracing. (I saw this on a poster at Highbury and Islington Station a year ago and loved it so much, I made a stone carving of it… unfortunately one of them shattered while carving so it’s just one.)
New Blood Live from London shows a collection of blood cells, although my degree in Anatomy and Cell Biology is a bit rusty and I don’t think I can name all of them…. Erythrocytes, Macrophage, Platelets….hmmmm
New Blood shows a White Blood Cell on the head of a pin.
Lady Gaga’s Blood and Semen Perfume

As a fan of using blood in her theatrical performances, Lady Gaga is taking it one step further by using a sample of her own blood to create a new perfume. Using the molecular structures of blood and semen to create a perfume that “smells like an expensive hooker”.
If you want more blood themed perfumes, check out Blood Concept, who have created a series of Unisex fragrances based on the different blood groups. You got to admit, even if you are a little squeamish, it is a brilliant idea!

The ‘Bloods’ series of photographs by photographer John Ross (famously used for Welsh Band Manic Street Preachers album ‘Lifeblood’) are just beautiful. Powerful yet delicate, well worth a look.
KT Tunstall The Scarlet Tulip EP

The fabulous KT Tunstall was as brilliant as ever at Latitude Festival this last weekend, and on sale there was her new EP, The Scarlet Tulip. Not surprisingly, it managed to stand out in the merchandise tent with this anatomical cover.
